This bull market in commodities has lit a fire under junior mining stocks and private equity groups have taken advantage of this rally and invested millions.
Pala Investments AG is one of the big players on the private equity side for junior mining companies.
Jan Castro is the managing director of Pala and founded the fund in July 2006. He is involved as a director in many junior miners.
Pala manages over $1 Billion USD and is an active buyer of junior mining stocks all over the world. In this May 5, 2010 press release, Pala announced the purchase of 10.61% of Capstone Mining Corp.

The Pala fund is located in Switzerland and it is a good place to look for capital for any mining junior with a proven reserve. Colin Murray is listed as CFO and he can be contacted at cmurray@pala.com.
Arias Resource Capital Management is another big private equity player in junior mining investment.
Just like Pala, Arias is very active in private placements in the junior mining market. On September 16, 2010; a press release was issued announcing that Arias had purchased 10.29 million common shares of Largo Resources Limited.

Job Specification
An opportunity has arisen to join the Business Development team based in London as a pre-MBA Associate. The Associate will be responsible for originating potential acquisition opportunities for H.I.G. through researching and cold calling CEOs and other Corporate Professionals, as well as building relationships with intermediaries such as Investment Bankers and Accountants.
The ideal candidate will have had some Finance experience either through a Front Office internship or through their course of study and have some sales experience.
This role is suited to individuals who are highly motivated, aggressive and self-starters. Superior English verbal communication skills are a must. Additional European languages will be viewed favourably. How much private equity does a venture capital firm claim?
I would like to know how much private equity does an individual or firm that is going to finance through venture capital will take in my company?

Why do Private Equity firms, certain real estate investments, and hedge funds get better tax rates?
I would consider myself a conservative on fiscal issues, and this makes no sense to me. Hedge Fund Managers, Real Estate Oligarchs, and Private Equity managers get the capital gains tax rate when investing other people’s money? I wouldn’t even consider raising the highest tax rate, but I wouldn’t see a problem taxing these people like everyone else. It probably isn’t a good time to do it, but they never should have gotten this special treatment. I think they should raise the taxes on these guys, and lower taxes on everybody else.

I would support a 10% tax on income from 0-30k. 20% on income from 30k-100k. 30% on income from 100k-1,0000, and 40% on everything above 1,000,000.
I’ll have to answer my own question. The tax law was good for many real estate companies and others, and the Wall Street guys came in and screwed it up. They need to somehow prevent the Wall Street guys from using the tax break, and let the others use it. Probably not possible, so the problem will never be solved.
